The Proform XP retails for around $600. The best ellipticals run several thousand dollars so how does this economic model stack up? The answer is, surprisingly well.
Most customers are happy with it’s overall performance. There are some issues with design and functionality, but that is to be expected with a machine as inexpensive as this one is. Several reports with minor malfunctions when the bike is used at low settings, like one or two. The best way to combat this is to use it at higher settings. Several reports that the heart monitor is erratic and can’t be trusted to always perform accurately.
Some reports that the pedals broke after a short period of time. Most reports, however, say that the manufacturer fixed the problem. A lot of critics report other, more serious issues, but very few of these are substantiated by consumer reports. Most, we believe, are an attempt by rival brands to discredit this model.
Most positive reports mention good durability, reliable performance and of course, a low price. Overall, reports for this model elliptical are good. Do not experct it to rival a four thousand dollar machine, it is inferior in overall quality. But if you’re looking for a reliable, inexpensive workout machine, this one is for you.

I have an elliptical trainer, can i lose 80 pounds with it?
I have started an exercise program along with a diet routine, i started this on march 16th and already have lost 11 pounds, i want to lose 80 more. i am right now doing 2 miles on the elliptical trainer along with crunches, push ups, ball squats and other things, any suggestions on how many miles i will have to do on it to lose 80 pounds?
Answer
You can absolutely lose the weight (that is if you actually have it to lose) as you get closer to your goal you will find yourself reaching natural plateaus and that will be your clue to step up the intensity of your workouts- either by adding a mile or two or by doing some interval/sprinting work and double checking your diet to make sure you aren’t lapsing. Healthy weight loss is about .5 to 2 pounds per week, so the middle of that is about 1.25 pounds taking the average and dividing it by how much weight you desire to lose I’d say you can be to your goal in about 64 weeks or 15 months. Mind you that is just an estimate. It may seem like a long time, but healthy and gradual loss is more likely to be permanent then quick fixes.
